About Defensa

Founded in 2013 as a Dog, Cat & Horse Animal Rescue Group, Defensa is a Federal 501c3 and Puerto Rico 1101.01(a)(2) Accredited Non Profit working Island Wide in Puerto Rico. We are listed on the Hacienda’s Act 20/22/60 eligible charities, read more & make your Act 20 / 22 donation now. We do not mix for profit work with not for profit work as some non profits do.

Our 3 Main Rescue Programs Are The Following

  1. Open Rescue, Financial assistance with Vet Services for street animals with life threatening conditions
  2. Marketing for Adoption & Information on Flying Your Rescued Animal Home with You
  3. Misión Esterilización, financial assistance to sterilize ANY dog, cat or male horse
  4. #ARescuedHorse, assistance helping horses when requested by The Police – Follow these steps when you see a horse in need – If you would like to Volunteer with Defensa our only Volunteer Opportunities are with our horses in Rincon Puerto Rico – feel free to email us to learn more DefensaRincon@gmail.com

When founded our work was concentrated in Rincon, as we have grown we have re-branded to match our work being Island Wide. We are still Defensa Animal de Rincon but for marketing and social media you may see us as ‘Defensa Animal de Puerto Rico’.
