- People with a litter of newly rescued dogs/puppies or cats/kittens from the street

Steps For Open Rescue Program

Tell the detailed STORY of your animal and needs in a PUBLIC FACEBOOK POST, with a DONATE BUTTON to “Defensa Animal de Puerto Rico”. Do not email us information instead please put all the photos & videos in ONE public facebook post. The post needs to include as much information and photos as possible, the more serious the situation the more photos and videos we will require. If you don’t use FB you will need to find a friend to help you or try reaching out to another rescue group to help instead of us
- Email us the Facebook Link to your PUBLIC post you made with a DONATE button like below photo. You must have the DONATE BUTTON on your post. In the post explicitly ask your friends to consider a DONATION and a SHARE to help Defensa continue this work because we get no financial help except that from the Public. At the very end of your post please copy & paste this direct donation link https://www.paypal.com/US/fundraiser/charity/115281
2 ) In the email to us – Include the Animal Name, Your name , email and phone number This will be the person taking the dog or the cat to the Vet and/or meeting the Vet at their home/farm & Do you want to use our For Adoption Program, yes or no?
3 ) In the email to us – Include Which Vet Clinic do you *prefer* – these are the only Vets because they give us discounts and allow us to be billed for your visit. Note: We do not book the appointment but you do. Therefore, if you want to contact the Vets before telling us which you will use that is wise. We have no special power with the Vets except to be billed for your visit if you follow the steps on this page. Choices are …

- Dogs & Cats have 2 choices Aguada AMC or Mayaguez Miradero if you want your visit to be billed to Defensa without a doubt. If you have a life threatening emergency – Your best luck will be driving to Hatillo Emergencies Hospital and call them while on the drive for emergency situations. You will need an email from us before you leave the clinic if you want us to pay for the visit and we can’t guarantee payment if you don’t follow the steps on this page.
4) In the email to us – Include Your agreement to the following, By participating in our program you agree to the following

- You will take lots of photos and videos DAILY and EMAIL DAILY them to us as long as you are wanting more financial help
- You understand if you don’t use 1 of our 3 Vets and you decide to raise money on Social Media through Defensa’s status as a Non Profit in Good Standing you will need to email us daily so we can reconcile donations and send them to you immediately. You will need to stop raising funds when we ask as we do not have the resources to manage such situations forever.
- You accept and understand the animal is your responsibility, it is NOT Defensa’s responsibility – this includes deciding on who will adopt your rescued animal if you are not keeping
- You release all photos and videos you send to Defensa to be used anywhere
